Romania

Romania is a country situated in south east Europe. Formed in 1859 by the joining of Moldavia and Wallachia, Romania gained recognition of its independence in 1878.
Transylvania, Bukovina and Bessarabia joined in 1918 and joined the EU in 2005. Currently Romania has the seventh largest population in Europe. The tourist industry mainly focuses on the countries rich history and beautiful scenery. As it is situated by the sea it enjoys varied whether patterns, but remains basically warm end temperate. Romania has its own unique culture and is an amalgamation of Balkan, Eastern Europe and Central Europe, but can’t really be considered part of any of them. The music that it produces is very distinct in style and often involves, violins and accordions.

The heritage of Romania is very diverse as it has been involved in many socialist movements and wars. As well as a complete economic overhaul leading up to 2005, where a flat rate low tax was introduced. During the Second World War they wanted to remain neutral but because of the allies (especially the French) wanting a new front to Hungry they joined the side of the allies and attacked Hungary. After the second world war the USSR left which left Romania in an economic recline that wouldn’t be rectified until years later.
